Each year, MSS sponsors a student paper competition to student members of the organization, offering six cash prizes - three each in the undergraduate and graduate divisions.
Submission deadline for 2010 is Friday, Jan. 8, 2010.
The MSS offers travel reimbursements of $100 each to 90 student members who participate in the annual meeting. To qualify, you must
Be a current MSS member,
Act as a presenter, organizer or discussant of an annual meeting session,
Pre-register for the 2010 annual meeting before the advance registration period ends on March 12, and
Submit your request via e-mail by March 12 to MSS Student Director Sadie Pendaz.
In your email, include the following information:
Put “MSS Travel Award” in the e-mail subject line.
In the body of the e-mail include: your full name, your institutional affiliation, the session number in which you are participating. [This information is available in the final program pdf, which is available on the home page.
Award winners will be randomly drawn from all applicants. [Last year - 130 applicants - 90 winners!]
If your name is randomly drawn, you will be notified in advance of the meeting, and can pick up your check at the registration desk in Chicago.

2010 Annual Meeting Undergraduate Research Poster Session
$200 will be awarded to the winner of the MSS Undergraduate Poster Session Competition. Poster abstracts are due Jan. 4, 2010. Click on the link above to learn more about the poster session and how to enter.
Graduate Students: Earn a 2010 NCSA-MSS Future Faculty Certificate! Graduate students who attend any THREE of the sessions marked in BOLD text and any TWO additional sessions l will receive a certificate of completion. For each session you attend, have the session presider initial the Future Faculty tracking sheet that will be included with your program material.
