More Membership FAQ’s

Who can join MSS?
The Midwest region includes the states of North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Missouri, Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Illinois, but any research worker or person employed as a sociologist, or any persons interested in the field of sociology, shall be eligible for regular membership in the Society upon payment of dues.

Do I have to be a member to participate in the annual meeting? Do I have to be a member to participate as a presenter in the annual meeting?
Participants in the Annual Meeting (presenters, committee members, or anyone otherwise listed in the program) must be members of the MSS. Exceptions may be made for foreign sociologists, some non-sociologists, and some invited guests.

What if I join or renew mid-year?
If you join MSS between January 1 and August 31, you will become a member for the current year, and back copies of the current journal volume will be sent, if available and requested. In November, you will be invited to renew your membership for the following year.

If you join MSS between September 1 and December 31, your membership will expire at the end of the following year. Membership rates for the upcoming year will be honored.

I haven't been receiving emails or mailings. What should I do?
First, check your address and email on file through your member profile. Update that as needed; this is the information used to send mail and emails. If these are correct, email the MSS Executive Office for further help.
