Poster Session Information

  • Posters should measure 36" tall by 48" wide. Because lamination can cause the poster to curl, we recommend that posters are not laminated for presentation.
  • All presenters will have a 4-foot wide sturdy poster board and easel to attach their poster to with clips. Clips will be provided. Should you wish to use any other means of hanging your poster, you are responsible for providing those items.
  • Presenters should plan to be with their posters during the assigned session so as to answer questions about their research.

Guidelines for poster submissions

Purpose: The Poster Session is designed to feature professional, graduate, and undergraduate work in sociology and promote interaction between members of the Midwest Sociological Society.

Content: Faculty, professionals, and students experience and study the “art” of sociology in many ways. This session is designed to feature these experiences and studies. Posters may present original research and data collection, theoretical works and applications, studies of public policy using sociological frameworks, as well as other forms of being engaged with the sociological imagination.

Expectations of Poster Presenters:

  • Presenters must be members of MSS.
  • Presenters must also pay advance registration fees for the meeting.
  • Those who do not pay membership AND registration fees may be dropped from the program.
  • Posters will be on display for a particular period of time during the meeting and presenters are expected to be present during their poster session to discuss their project. You will be notified in advance of your presentation time.
